Sad to See You go

Sophie B., Paige and Sophie O. playing with Ed on the couch.
Sophie and Sophie.
Sophie playing with Jake. Sophie LOVES baby Jakie!
These girls! Clearly Barney is the only way we were able to get a photo of the three of them sitting still together.

It is with laughter(from the three crazy girls playing with each other )and sadness that I wrote this post. Our friends Josh and Sarah and their little ones Sophie and Jake are moving in a few weeks back to the Seattle area. We are so sad to see them go. I feel like we have just started to get to know them but love them all already. You will be missed!

Snuggling with Daddy

Ed woke up Sunday morning not feeling very well. Sophie was sweet enough to help her daddy feel better by snuggling on the couch with him.

5:00 A.M.

What else would the entire family need at 5:00am....coffee of course, or "Kah-kee" as Sophie calls it.

Don't they know it's 5am????? Why are they smiling???

5am this morning I hear Ed go downstairs and he doesn't return. When I head down there I hear him and Sophie talking about red. Sophie had apparently woken up, very wet. When Ed changed her, she insisted on wearing her RED pj's.

I guess we are up for the day. Time to start the caffeine IV.
(Paige, don't worry, we were up early enough to TiVo Barney. You and Sophie will be all set for your playdate this morning. Hilary, maybe make that a double tall nonfat vanilla latte.)

Teaching Sophie the basics

Today I taught Sophie the basics of making chocolate chip cookies, my favorite dessert of all time! I think the mixer was her favorite part. I know she was just itching to put her little fingers in the bowl.

Sophie's Valentine's Day Recap

Valentine's morning: Opening her Valentine card from dad. Ed drew an Elmo on the front of the card, it was a HUGE hit!
Loving the "boons" that Ed gave Sophie and I.
This was Sophie a few days before Valentine's Day making her dad a card...I know, precious =)
Helping mom decorate cupcakes for music class. At some the point the lid on the sprinkles was closed, so when I gave it to Sophie to shake I thought for sure it was a guaranteed mess free time....boy was I wrong! I turn my head for 2 seconds and our counters and floors are covered with pink sprinkles! At least she had fun......

Super Bowl Sunday

Food for the BIG game. Ed's amazing wings and of course..........
some chocolate!
Sophie throws both arms up in the air everytime you say 'Touchdown'........and yes, this makes Ed very proud!
Super Bowl Sunday (aka "National Holiday" in our house) We watched the game at our friends Larry and Michelle's house. Sophie had a blast playing with Brock (Larry & Michelle's little boy...he is so cute, I wish I had gotten a picture of him) and his toys. Sophie was completely content playing and snacking and of course reading her Elmo books.

It's been awhile.......

Sophie and Ed playing in Manhattan Beach on a Saturday morning. (I was watching from afar enjoying my bagel and coffee....gotta love the weekends)
Sophie and her cousin Isabelle playing with the Princess car. Yes, they do fight over it.
Strolling on Hermosa Pier. Well, really chasing all the dogs, birds and baby carriages.
Playing with chalk on the boardwalk in Hermosa Beach. Gotta love this summer weather in January.
Counting her pennies. Already learning to save!
Strolling with her babies.

I know, I know, it's been a long time since my last post. We have been so busy since returning from our trip to Massachusetts. It's taken us a little bit of time to get back into our daily routine, a harsh reality really...vacation is soooooo nice! I got to spend every day with Sophie and a lot more time with Ed. I really took advantage of my days off and tried to do as many fun things with Sophie as possible. Staying home with her was such a luxury!
We are now back in the swing of things! I'm posting some recent photos of Sophie. She is changing every day, it's so much fun. A couple of Sophie updates:

*To say that Sophie LOVES Elmo and Ernie is the understatement of the year. She talks about Elmo and Ernie all day long and has even woken up in the middle of the night saying their names and going right back to sleep.

*Sophie loves to go to the park and swing, except she calls the park the Party. Anytime we drive by or walk by a park she points with both hands and says Party, Party. Basically anytime we get in the car she thinks we are going to the Party, she gets SO excited!

*Sophie is starting to learn colors. She loves the color red. I painted her toenails pink but she keeps me telling me that they are red. Oh well, I guess its sort of progress that she recognizes that its a color?

*Sophie has this piggy bank in her room that she loves to put money into. She calls it "Piggy". The other day we parked our car by the beach and Ed went to put money into the meter and Sophie called the meter "Piggy". Good association Sophie, except not everything that takes our change is a piggy bank!

Annual Manhattan Beach Fireworks

Every year since we moved to California, we head over to our friends Larry and Betty who have a house on the Strand and we drink delicious hot cider and watch the awesome Manhattan Beach fireworks. This was Sophie's second year going. Last year she was just a few months old and the fireworks didn't even faze her. This year, well she was so afraid of the noise....poor little girl. So we had to watch the fireworks inside, and even then she wasn't to happy about them.
It was a great show and we enjoyed being outside and seeing all the decorated houses on the walk to the beach from our car.

Music Class

This is a photo of the kids in Sophie's Friday music class. Miss Paige is missing from the photo
Sophie and Sophie are playing the drum to the music. Ok, so maybe my Sophie was more afraid of the drum then actually playing on it.
